OMG, I'm so in love. The architecture and the mix of residences and businesses, the parks... Luckily I love our 'hood, too, but it kind of reminded me of where we lived in Chicago (lakeview). So unique.

I've also been to Lawrencevile recently and loved that, too. Pittsburgh really is an amazing place.

PS. Have ya'll discussed the Pittsburgh Magazine annual city guide? There is a website called pittsburghcityliving.com that will tell you the neighborhoods that fit you best. I just did it and got Regent Square, Carrick, and Crafton Heights.

I used the guide when I visited in 2006 and spent an afternoon exploring Aspinwall as a result.

cute post! im glad you had a good time. its great to turn a corner in a city, or go down a street where youve never been, and find something/someplace that nourishes your soul in some way. (DC was like that for me, with a lot of beautiful streets you wouldnt see in a cab or on foot on a main drag - despite it being a city of les miserables).

but...regent square, carrick, crafton heights all in the same recommendation. tread softly...

I lived in the area for 8 years. I loved it then and still do, however I would not want to deal with that level of traffic ever again in my life. Between the tunnels and the Forbes/Penn corridors there is never an easy way to get anywhere unless it's 3AM.

Haha those recommendations don't make any sense at all.

Yes! And they aren't completely marred by blacktop patches like you see in so many other cities.
