I wish Pittsburgh didn't have so many of these, but I guess it is something this area will always have going on. Just figured I should post it incase some might be thinking of going out for a jog.

I thought only the elderly and the sick had to worry about air quality Code Orange. Or maybe only the elderly and the sick have to worry about terrorists when the Homeland Security people put us on Code Orange.

I went for a bike ride through Schenley Park and couldn't help but notice that I was breathing in fumes from either gas or diesel engines (or both) during almost the entire wooded trail circuit, even though there were hardly any vehicles nearby. These alerts are obviously for real and just add to the growing support for weaning this country off of fossil fuels as soon as possible.

No one should have to put up with this living in a 21st century city anywhere in the world, we should start by setting a real example here in Pittsburgh since this is going to be the wave of progress in the future whether one is on board with it or not.

Interesting. I've got a headache that just won't go away. I don't smell anything indoors, though.

The air often smells in the morning in Pgh., though.

Looks like this is what you were dealing with.

These alerts also state those with asthma or other sensitive respiratory issues should take caution. My wife has asthma and I have severe allergy issues, and I have had terrible sinus pressure all week

Yeah, it is one of those things I guess. Imagine how high the levels are if alarms in homes are going off. That is scary stuff! Ah well, Pittsburgh has always been known for pollution. We love driving everywhere in huge SUVs and empty Pickups. I don't think anyone really cares.
