I'm pretty sure SkyscraperPage is estimating. As far as I know... the structural height has never been released.

Maybe Skyscraper page got it from Gensler, the architects. Skyscaperpage seems to be be quite precise. http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?cityID=327

Default What's the story

Rumor is afloat of a deconstruction of buildings directly across Wood from PNC Tower 4 and between Fifth and Forbes down to CVS. What's the story; is there a new tower coming?

That area is slated for historic preservation. The less thab historic facades will most likely be deconstructed to make way for the historic restoration.

600 Feet would place PNC Tower at number 6 in height just above Gulf Tower. With an additional 48 feet being added to the structure the Tower would become the Third Tallest Building in the City. Jim Rohr, you are truly Pittsburgh's Premiere Corporate Citizen, is there a chance of calling Gensler and adding just 48 feet ??
If not I truly hope 600 feet is an accurate height as an official height has not been mentioned since the tower height was approved by City Planning Comission.

I'm not sure Jim Rohr is a member of this message board.

Sky Garden, Porches Dress Up Energy-Stingy PNC Tower - Bloomberg

Sky Garden, Porches Dress Up Energy-Stingy PNC Tower

By James S. Russell - Aug 23, 2012 12:01 AM ET

A tower under construction in Pittsburgh aspires to be the greenest in the world. I’ve heard that one before, and I usually don’t buy it.

Yet the design of the 33-story PNC Financial Group headquarters impresses because amenities come with energy- conservation tactics that even the most ecologically oriented companies in the U.S. have largely shunned.

Sliding wooden doors open onto a breezy porch high above the city. Colleagues can gather to work casually in a sky-garden atrium offering panoramic views.

natural light provides more than just energy savings. Many studies have been done proving that people are more efficient and even happy working in spaces with more natural light. Think of being in a classroom with nothing but fluorescent lighting and no windows compared to a space with ample day lighting and little artificial light.

I didn't understand the other point of the article in terms of "who cares about designing with low energy use because some people think global warming is a myth". Lowering energy use to power supply companies doesn't do with global warming. I know many would think it would. It does with them wanting to lower their peak loads because the amount of energy American's are using has gone up by so much. It is more expensive to build more on the supply side then to lower the energy use through efficient design. This is why power companies give out so many incentives in customers who lower their energy use.

Also, companies like PNC save money in energy costs and production costs through the life of their building by building green. So "do the right thing" might mean, spend less money in energy use over the next 20 years. I never got why he stated in the beginning that he was skeptical of PNC and their greenness, but never mentioned why either.
