There may be a few people who would consider either mall close enough to go to, but it can't be many as a percentage of either mall's overall potential market. I believe I have read the market radius for a regional shopping center is usually around 5-15 miles. I believe these two malls are about 20 miles apart, so their markets may not overlap at all (10 miles apiece would be right in the middle of that 5-15 range), and even at maximum extension, by far most of their respective areas would not overlap.

I think this is a reflection of how the Eastern Suburbs has declined over the last 30 years. At the same time, the "suburbs" found in Westmoreland County, Murrysville, Penn Township, North Huntingdon have seens massive amounts of new construction.

The decline of the Eastern suburbs is partly attributable to the creation of the Woodland Hills School District. Part of it is attributable to Westinghouse, first with their research park in Churchill and later moving their facility from Monroeville to Cranberry.

As little as possible here, I agree. But that is not true for others, plenty of people still seem to go to malls.

You don't need a mall to do that though.

Century III is completely dead, but Monroeville is violent.
I fervently hope you never have to live in a city with an actual legit crime rate. Monroeville Mall is violent and scary? My word.

Some of you guys need to deal with your latent racism. Just because you see a black person doesn't mean they're going to rob you. Moved here from the West Coast to Penn Hills and all the posts about "SCARY DANGEROUS" Penn Hills are amusing to read. Quite a few regulars on this board are living in a weird bubble.

Yes, but malls are usually where the stores are!

I am in a mall rarely, as most stores don't have the shoe sizes, inseams and sleeve lengths that our family needs.
