Midwest==Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana Ohio. I equate it with the historic Northwest Territory, generally speaking.

Edit--which is very specifically defined as "Northwest Territory, U.S. territory created by Congress in 1787 encompassing the region lying west of Pennsylvania, north of the Ohio River, east of the Mississippi River, and south of the Great Lakes." Pretty cut-and-dried with well-defined borders. So Pittsburgh isn't Midwest but is very important to it.

There, case closed. I'm right and everyone else is wrong (though I suppose I include states on the other "shore" of the MIssissippi.

Really wouldn't mind if Pittsburghers were as friendly as the people I have met in the Midwest.

Because a moderator hasn't settled this debate once and for all with a lock like I'd hoped.

Pittsburgh is basically the south if you are from Nunavut, the north if you are from Georgia, the Northeast if you are from Iowa, and the Midwest if you are from Rhode Island. Case closed drink a coffee milk if you are from the Northeast or eat some hotdish if you are from the Midwest. Nothing to see here people move it along

You must run in a bad circle.

That circle must be pretty wide then.

Pittsburgh is neither. It's an isolated bubble in the Appalachian mountains that does have a mix of everything like one poster said.... Too southern for Rhode Island, too north for Alabama, etc. It also has its own quirkiness not found in other cities. Even it's climate is in a bubble.

What does it take to get this locked? There is no debate.
