That's a bit of an extreme view. I don't think that anybody wants to get stabbed. Who would want that??

Last year I was driving through center city Allentown on a one way stopped at a light.
There was a trashed out, lowered ghetto Honda at the light on my left up by one car at the front.
They were yelling obscenities at a guy who was riding an upper scale Bianchi.
The cyclist wasn't dressed in riding gear but in his office apparel and wearing a helmet.
The men in the car were threatening to take is " Whitey Cracker bike " .
The cyclist yelled a few things back and then started to ride off.
The men in the car followed him.
We continued down the street while the cyclist and the men in the car turned down a side street.

It is not unreasonable to believe that inner city residents don't mix well with office workers and hipsters on expensive bicycles.

Yes, I'm saying that this incident in Pittsburgh could have escalated from a traffic issue to one of anger and jealousy because " whitey " cut off the wrong car full of garbage.

Somehow I don't think this would have happened if it was someone living in the " hood " riding a Huffy.

why bring it up in THIS THREAD? oh please.

where has this happened?

when james price was killed, and witnesses reported that the driver was going 60mph down penn?

when anthony green was killed, and the driver didn't have a license and plowed into a telephone pole?

when david wood was hit by someone who was speeding and running into things, drove almost a mile and then crashed?

when someone jumped out of their car and stabbed someone else, possibly because they had to apply their brakes unexpectedly?

i think people had pretty good reasons to think those motorists were doing something dumb. another thing that is pretty unquestionably dumb: hitting a human being and driving away. other than that, i've only seen the general behavior of drivers come up *in response to* the inevitable complaints about cyclists breaking the law. and i mean, we are talking about mostly hit and run cases here. when someone punches a little kid, it's natural to complain about their actions. it's not natural to say "well some toddlers i've seen can be really annoying. not condoning punching kids, but here's an article about how annoying toddlers are and how it makes people mad at other unrelated toddlers."

and really, you could tone down the patronizing tone a bit mr. kaufman. it's almost as if you WANT to get people angry at you. hm.

Because we're talking about cyclists and cars sharing a road. Have you not been following?

It's happened in this forum, lots and lots and lots of times.

You're deflecting here. Again, you're the one making those leaps. Nobody is condoning violent behavior. However, I do think it's reasonable to note that confrontations can sometimes arise because of the fault and/or attitude of the cyclist.

i assumed you named yourself after famous irl troll tony clifton. and if you think you're not being patronizing.... ok.

However, I do think it's reasonable to note that confrontations can sometimes arise because of the fault and/or attitude of the cyclist.

it's reasonable in many contexts, but not in this one. the question of whether cyclists ride like jerks (yes some of them do) is not relevant here. there is nothing that this guy could have done with his bike short of attacking someone with it that should inspire that kind of violent response. the reaction was insane and even if cyclists all rode absolutely perfectly (the way cars apparently do) it would not stop things like this from happening.

edit: and i'm dropping out of the weird "who complains more reasonably about which vehicle" part of this argument cause it's silly.

So they deserve to be stabbed because they ran a stop sign? Ok here's a real question: Are you ******* stupid?
