I know most of this forum would rather chew nails then eat in the 'burbs. But, if you want a good time with the kids n'at along with good food, try this place:

Narcisi Winery, Pennsylvania winery,Wine, Wines, Wineries, Wine Tasting - About La Casa Narcisi Winery - Wine Tours. Pittsburgh Winery, pennsylvania winery

Hard to believe I've driven by this place for years and never stopped. It's like an Italian Vineyard with good local wines. You can eat inside, or on the patio, or you can bring your own food and sit at a picnic table under a covered pavillion, as long as you buy at least 1 bottle of wine. They generally have free entertainment along with a great open field area where the kids play soccer, baseball, and just plain run around.

The chef used to work at Ciba, so the food is very good. We were there last night with our neighbors and we had a great time. Check it out.

Who knows, you might run into Hopes. Or, SSR might run into anyone.

The atmosphere is nice but we ate there last year and the food was atrocious....maybe a new chef?. I live about a few miles from there and it is always packed though. Gotta say The Pines Tavern would leave them in the dust though...by far my favorite north hills area restaurant.

Kind of the opposite, never been impressed with The Pines. I was never at the Winery until this year, so it's possible the new chef turned it around.

I've had good experiences at Spadafora's on Rt. 8 just north of Duncan Ave. (Restaurants in Pittsburgh, Spadaforas Restaurant Home) and The Hartwood, though I don't know how it is recently.

I have a feeling you're about 5 minutes from there, trust me, it's worth the drive.
