Never heard of her. Probably because she's never wanted to be an actual chef, but always set her eye on becoming a tv cooking star.

In 2009, Marcela wrote her first cookbook, Fresh Mexico: 100 Simple Recipes for True Mexican Flavor. In the book, she shatters the misconceptions about Mexican cuisine. For example, Marcela always says, “There is no yellow cheese in real Mexican cooking.”
Odd, I don't know anyone who thought Mexicans used yellow cheese. In fact, there's no cheese at all in quite a bit of Mexican cooking.

I did get to Market District when Bayless was there. Now there's a Mexican cook.

Well there are some people that actually think that Taco Bell (who does use yellow cheddar) is real Mexican food. I'm Mexican myself and was asked several times in my life if I liked Taco Bell.

I forgot about Taco Bell.
When I was living in the DF in the mid-90s, there were three Taco Bells open there and they were all busy. I couldn't believe it, but I was told by my hosts that any American fast-food chain gets a big following (and they proved it by ordering in Dominos twice a week). The locals viewed Taco Bell more as a McDonald's except with tortillas instead of buns and not "Mexican food".

I like the shows Restaurant & Kitchen Impossible. I've never been to Taco Bell as I hate Mexican food.

I like mexican food & Taco bell, although I go there like once a year. However I don;t know who this lady is. I know Daisy Fuentes but not this lady. What show does she have on Food channel?

Yeah, what Julie said, "Distrito Federal". As I was responding to a Mexican it just came out. Force of habit as almost nobody calls it "Mexico City" in Mexico. Sorry 'bout that.

At any rate, this woman sounds like the Sandra Lee of Mexican cuisine. Which is not a compliment.

I would have been more interested if she were more like the Julia Child of mexico. I don;t like Sara Lee's recipes/style of cooking.
