Question #2. I'd reccoment Crate in Scott Township Welcome to CrateCook.com! . I second the opinion that Quantum theatre has quality shows.
When you shop mainly on ebay for weird stuff, you shop for Christmas all year long.... and gotta tell you.... Makes the season MORE spectacular when you can concentrate on the "reason for the season" instead of shopping, which is what's it's turned into.

Back to the OP -- my sister got a class on basic bee keeping from BurghBees.... and she had a blast! She wants to dive right in.

And best yet -- go with him. I really miss the one on one time with my parents....

Since the OP is looking for her father, not her mother and father, I suspect she is looking for things he can do on his own, things that can get him out and interacting with people. (Maybe I'm wrong.) While tickets to plays and museums are nice, they aren't exactly things that help you meet people.

I was going to suggest a cooking class. Some of the area chefs hold them in their restaurant kitchens. My father would have loved that. He dabbled in gourmet cooking on the weekends.

What about golf lessons? Even if he already golfs, most golfers love taking lessons from a pro.

These are all really great ideas. Thank you, and keep 'em coming! Some of these will work well for my brother and sister in law, too.

My dad does enjoy theatre but it doesn't take much for him to be turned off by what he deems to be "weird." Come on art world, you know what I'm talking about. Old school musicals are his favorite. There's a show at Cabaret at Theater Square at Christmas that I'm thinking about but some of the other ideas you folks have suggested are better!

My dad is a widower but has lots of family and friends in his life that he could share this gift with by taking along. Me too, if he wants to take me, lol.

For me, October - November - December is my absolute FAVORITE time of year. It's a triple threat with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I don't shop much or spend a lot of money on material gifts, but for those whom I do buy gifts, I like them to be meaningful and thoughtful. I'm already thinking about Thanksgiving travel and cooking and Christmas gifts, and I love it.

Do you have suggestions for specific restaurants/chefs?
