Where was it determined that this African-American male youth attacked this teacher due to his race?

By the same token, white teenage boys have historically had no reason to punch anybody either since the President has been a white male up until this last administration. Well, I guess we have that pretty well wrapped up.

Anyway, nobody knows what that kid was thinking except the kid himself, and I imagine he's deflecting with his "I was just having a bad day" alibi on the advice of his attorney if he has any brain at all. It might be racial, it might be an authority-figure problem, he might live in a violent environment at home, he might be trying to impress other kids, he might have a chemical imbalance, we just don't know. But it really does kind of bug me that people leap immediately to the conclusion that this is a black-on-white hate crime and the kid ought to be happy and nonviolent because of who the President is. Maybe it's true, maybe not. We don't know yet.

Exactly. People are assuming way more than usual. And the president comment? Don't even know where to begin with that one.

My son's friends, who are young adults, think he should be charged with attempted murder.

Sorry Curt, I not familiar with this at all but give me some time to read up on it.

Aaaawww Moby, you have such a bleeding heart for the criminal youth of our nation. Maybe you can invite this fine upstanding young man over for dinner once he gets released from jail. After all, I know plenty of 15 year olds with POs. Isn't that a common occurrence?

I can not find any news stories about the "knockout game" other than a Trib article about this incident. Could reporters have made this stuff up?

Hi Hopes I read something like this happening when I was in Atlanta going on in Oakland to Pitt Students.

Ok, now after reading the article and everyone's (that made any sense) remarks, it just seems to me that he was some young punk trying to prove how "hard he was" by trying to knockout someone. Actually I don't think that it was racial, since it could have been a black, asian or latino person that happened to walk into that alley at that time. Now, I do think if it had been a relatively big man the punk would proably not have taken a chance on getting his butt handed to him.

Btw Curt, I'm glad that you value my opinion on such a matter
