Hi all. I used to own a horse when I was a kid, but haven't ridden in 20+ years. I would like to get back into it by taking some lessons, and hopefully having my own horse again some day. Does anyone know of a place that gives adult lessons and isn't too far out of town (more than 30 miles)? I live in the East End and have a flexible work schedule. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Do you want English or Western?

Hartwood Equestrian Center on Harts Run Road is English. My girlfriend loved this place.

Johnston Highland Stables off of Route 910 in Gibsonia is Western. I really enjoyed lessons here.

I do not recommend the Rolling Hills Ranch in Bridgeville. Those horses just follow their path and the riding area is small. It's more for people who don't ride.

Thank you Hopes. There seems to be a lot of places around, but it is difficult to know who is good. I have only ridden English before (I should have specified), but Western might be fun to try.

I hope you get back into it. My girlfriends and I did after we hadn't ridden in about 15 years. We had a blast. Then we got busy being mothers. I've been thinking of riding again too. Maybe next summer...

Plenty of East Enders ride @ Bargee Farms on Cedar Run in Indiana Township. There is another farm on the same road - Cedar Run Farms that has less facilities but is a bit more down to earth? Not sure how to put that but there is a bit of difference between the two

Actually - there are plenty of facilities in Indiana Twp and they are 20 minutes to the end end neighborhoods at the right time of day.

Good Luck!
