Plus the moron who hit the cyclist on Penn Avenue was arrested too. Very happy to see it, I never expected a positive result in either case.

To bad the cyclist being referred to in this post couldn't have got his hands on the attacker.

Here's a related story on the arson he committed:

Police: Man afraid of stepdad

Sounds like his dad's a crackpot too. Who thinks it's a good idea to have a 10 foot alligator in the house?

I'd be afraid of a 10' foot allegator with a 1,000 pound per inch bite running around loose in a house.

I have no words if that alligator is legal to own in Pennsylvania, when I had to rehome my degus out-of-state because they were made illegal after I moved here (they were adopted in Oregon from shelters there) and nothing was grandfathered in. Game commission employees literally go around killing degus if they're found or reported. I found this out by making the mistake of putting them down on an animal adoption application at a shelter in Latrobe (wanted a list of all currently owned animals), and the busybodies there were quick to let me know that they were illegal and were rather threatening about it.

I've never heard of a degus. What's so threatening about them? I googled them. They just look like a type of rat. Rats make great pets. I'm confused.

There's nothing threatening about them. They're a very close relative of the chinchilla and guinea pig (both legal in PA), and they are smaller than both. The woman at the shelter in Latrobe, when she was bitching at me for owning illegal animals (and promptly refused to let me adopt a dog from them because of it), gave some nonsense about how they get loose and tear up farmer fields or something like that. Whatever. They are fragile, ill-suited for Pennsylvania climate (they need air conditioning in the summer and can get heat stroke anywhere above 75 degrees, especially 80+ degrees), and small. Chinchillas could do the same thing if the concern is irresponsible owners setting them free, and chinchillas are much larger. Ferrets can kill chickens and do other damage, and they're legal. It's just insane government nonsense.

Anyway, if the PA game commission catches you with a degu, they kill them immediately. The person at the animal shelter made a point of letting me know about them raiding some person local to them who owned degus, and there are plenty of other horror stories out there about it. I rehomed them quickly after my encounter with the shelter (she told me she was going to be calling the government to inquire further about their legality, which I took as a threat) because I didn't rescue them in Oregon and bring them here just to have them killed by the PA government.

Sorry that happened. It's amazing how one crazy person can ruin everything. Glad you were able to find them a goood home.

How the heck does a topic of some cyclist's being attacked and the attacker getting caught in jail turn into PA law on degu? I have seen some wild change of topic, but this might take the cake.

The 10 foot allegator is a clue, Curtis.
