Do you have any friends or relatives in rural areas that would let you use their land for a range? Out here, many of us have ranges in our back yards.

Nope, everyone I know locally lives in the city. I'd have to go ~160 miles to my nearest lives-in-rural-areas friend

We used to hunt where Ross Park Mall is... I guess shooting rats down the river is out with the bike trails and all... At night under the 40th street bridge, hang some chicken from a tree and look out, big as cats and dogs!

I still haven't found myself a range I'm happy to plop money down on, unfortunately. But I HAVE found myself a new FFL whose services I'll be glad to make use of in the future and thought I'd share.

Bloodhound Arms, in Warrendale. The owner holds a Class 3 SOT, which means he can also transfer NFA-restricted items, which is great because I'm thinking about starting the paperwork for a suppressor and short barreled rifle once I get my tax return. Gave up on the full-auto idea for now, I can't justify plunking that kind of cash.

I ordered two AR-15 lowers online, he received them for me and it was all of ten minutes for me to go in, fill out the 4473, get the PICS (background) check run, and hand him the $25 (very reasonable) fee for the transfer, and go. Painless, and he's a really swell guy.

Just thought I'd update in case anyone needed a local FFL for transfers

Heck, back in the day, I used to shoot on Guys Run Road. Don't know if times have changed that much? Maybe.

Resurrection...

Can anyone recommend a public shotgun range anywhere within 20ish minutes of the city? Just target and clay shooting.

Don't feel like joining one of the sportsmens clubs.

Thanks!

State game lands in the area have shotgun ranges. There is an annual fee and you can only shoot slugs there.

You're supposed to shoot skeet with slugs? That's hardcore.
