We went for a ride to Ohio over the weekend.

When we got onto Route 70 at Washington, there were MANY MANY Halliburton tanker trucks.

Where are they dumping the contaminated water?

Is this one of those 'when did you stop beating your wife' type questions.

Who knows? Who cares? Maybe they had one of those companies that deal in recycling frack water send over a unit to use. Those are getting more popular, but its so new that there probably aren't enough units to meet the demand just yet.

LMAO! Nope. I'm truly wondering where they are dumping the water. I'm not aware of a treatment facility in SWPA.

We passed them so we didn't see if they crossed the border. I can't imagie they would haul it very far into the midwest because that would be costly.

With all of the mines around the region, and the terrible habit of storing garbage in those old mines, I'm a bit concerned.

Oh, geeze! It seems they may be dumping it in Ohio.

Quote:
In 2011, drillers pumped more than 500 million gallons of toxic fluid into Ohio's injection wells. More than half of the wastewater came from other states.

And they are protesting frack water dumping in Athens, Ohio.

And Knox County, Ohio.

KNOX COUNTY, Ohio --
Waste water from Pennsylvania oil- and gas-drilling operations is being trucked into Knox County, Ohio, for disposal in wells thousands of feet deep...
Both of which perfectly line up with the direction the trucks were heading on Route 70.

The reason I started this thread is because there were so many Halliburton trucks that it was noteworthy.

We didn't just see a handful. We were dodging Halliburton tankers all along Route 70. The highway was congested with them.

Yeah, rt.70 is a real piece of garbage. I hate it. I can't think of another highway that I hate to drive on more than 70.

It is an aweful highway. But I hate the turnpike more. Jersey barriers make me tense. At least 70 is divided.

You already found it but I was going to say, probably injecting it in Ohio still. Dunno for sure unless you follow them the whole way, but it seems likely enough. The earthquake issue I don't think was enough for them to try to ban the injection wells completely, just that they need to do more seismic evaluation or something.

Check out this map I found.

Ohio and Fracking | Earthjustice

Look at the cluster of incidents in SWPA.

We were thinking about buying in that area. Now I'm not so sure.

It seems okay south of Route 70, except for that one at the WV border.
