I live on a block where there are two different street cleaning signs one for the 2nd Thursday of each month and the other for the 2nd and Fourth Wednesday of each month.

I am a new driver and at a complete loss as to what I should do and where I should park. Most of the time I leave my car at home and commute via bus during the week.

Should I just drive to work on those days or is there a place in HP where I can leave the car on street cleaning days?

Find a street without those signs and park there. And it must be nice to live on a street that gets cleaned.

I believe those signs are specific to certain sides of the road (are the contradicting signs that you see on opposite sides of the road?). So, one day there is cleaning on one side of the road (and you can park on the other side), leaving cleaning of the opposite side of the road for another day. I'd double check that, but I know that was the case for me when I lived on a road that was swept. I recommend asking your neighbors as well, as they'll have an absolute answer for you.

^ This. One day last year I parked on one side of College Street in Shadyside and received a ticket for parking there when the street was being swept. The next day I parked on the opposite side of the street and once again received a ticket because THAT side of the street was being swept on that day!

Nothing too insane, usually about $20. Just enough to be annoying, haha.

This was earlier last year, but I think it was like $26 each day. I like to try to tell myself that my $52 from my two-day parking error went to something good for the greater good when it hit the city's budget.

Like putting up speed limit signs on streets that go through parks.
