Hello all,

I'm looking to move either the Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 24-25) or weekend of Dec 2-3 from Chattanooga, TN (14hr drive) and could use some help unloading a partially filled 26' truck. I don't have much (gave it all up in divorce). It's not a whole house full but with the weather, I'd like some help. Any takers? Email me contact info to neil@npowers.com.

Thanks!!!

This should be more like a 10 hour drive, I think! If you're anything like me, the 12-hour mark is where it becomes too much driving, so hopefully that's a relief?

People in Pittsburgh are nice, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it rises to the level of helping total strangers from the internet move, in winter months, for no compensation?

Strange place lately- people wanting an invite to internet strangers' homes for Thanksgiving dinner, people willing to allow an absolute internet stranger to come to their home for Thanksgiving dinner, and people looking for people to perform physical labor for free.

Why not? Many people volunteer their time to causes.

Some prefer to volunteer their time towards something more personal and meaningful.

I think it's refreshing. The internet isn't a scary place for people with some street smarts. You'd be amazed at how people are connected and helping one another via the internet. There are sites where people post for rides across the country or for couch surfing. It's all the same thing. We're all adults here. We know the risks. We can make the decision for ourselves.

That is an intimidating looking project. Have you started yet? Are you going to actually live there while restoring it?

Allentown isn't far from me. I could possibly lend a hand. PM me if you still need some help.

I'm doing 90% of the work with my merry band of helpers. It will be hard at first but worth it. We're going to live on the second floor and restore the first over time, the exterior only as needed until the inside is done. We'd love the help. We're not moving much, gave away or sold on craigslist.
