PennDOT: Thanksgiving Is Worst Holiday For Crashes « CBS Pittsburgh

It really is shocking there can be that many deaths. Those are some wild numbers. So many people rushing and driving SUV's/Pickups that flip over easy and don't stop well, certainly doesn't help, but wow, I never knew there was that many deaths in PA and that many reported accidents. That is some crazy statistics.

I drove from Pittsburgh to my parents' homestead near Scranton on Monday evening after work. After sitting in traffic for a half-hour trying to cross the Highland Park Bridge it was smooth sailing until I came within inches of a violent head-on collision just a minute from my destination when a car made a left turn in front of me without yielding to me as I proceeded into the intersection. A lot of people were driving very dangerously last night on I-81. Be careful out there!

Well, take the shortcut next time. Just head over the river and through the woods.

Next Monday, Nov. 26, is also the first day of buck season in Pennsylvania statewide.

Keep an eye peeled for deer on the road, particularly if you're driving in rural areas.

Isn't that called a "Pittsburgh left"?

LOL! It's not considered to be one, though, when it's a solid green as you're both approaching the intersection.

Not too bad on the hit and run scene in the city. Only one reported I guess. Pretty good.

Must be a regional difference. Maybe on a solid green, it's the "Scranton Left".

So, what you're saying is that your luck is improving. (Incrementally at least.)

Amazingly it wasn't a Honda Pilot that almost hit me for a change of pace. I swear drivers of those vehicles just hate me!

We drove up to the Poconos yesterday and the only traffic we got was in Wilkes Barre. Just an accident. Otherwise it took us 5 hours.

Have a great Thanksgiving and safe home also.
