I have yet to see evidence that you've changed anyone's opinion, and I'd be surprised if Visit Pittsburgh would adopt a marketing campaign around "Visit Pit." frankly the whole argument that an abbreviation matters falls flat with me.
I haven't called anyone names....in order for there to be a solid debate about this, both sides need to take the topic seriously. Yet very few have on this forum...Some people actually see where I'm going with this.

For other it's over their heads. I'll place you in the "Over my head" category.

In Mein Kampf, "PIT" is used as an abbreviation for Pittsburgh.

It already serves an abbreviation for Pittsburgh....You guys act like its not used in commonality at all. That I just made up the PIT abbreviation on the fly.

Outside of Pittsburgh PIT and Pitt is more common than PGH. its in Pittsburgh where its not common except for Airport use.

Why do you hate it? It's nice and perfectly logical

EVERYONE: AGREE TO DISAGREE. People won't be changing their individual conventions on a broad scale anytime soon anyway. Jeez o man.

No real reason...I just didn't like it.

I'm not taking about "Pitt." I'm talking about "PIT," which you believe would do wonders for marketing. To clarify: PIT, written down as a marketing tool.

I think the abbreviation is irrelevant. Portland and Seattle, to take two examples, have good images, but PDX isn't so clear to be portland, and I don't even know what would be seattle (SEA) Additionally, only one of these has an iconic structure (the other an iconic breed of people).

I think we can have a much more effective and meaningful identity outside of an abbreviation or single icon.
