Just saw this posted on Facebook. Penn students created designs for vacant lots in Wilkinsburg. Doesn't say anything about funding to implement the designs. Thought you'd like to see the designs: Penn State Landscape Designs | Wilkinsburg CDC

that's pretty neat to look at. there have been a few of these projects where college students come up with ideas/plans for spaces in wilkinsburg, it's rare that much comes of it. not saying it can't, and the involvement of the wcdc in this one is a good sign, but this is just a very very first step that rarely gets any further. it will take a LOT of money to fix up that train station but i really hope someone can find it.

the borough did replace a lot of traffic lights with stop signs in response to one of these studies but that's the only concrete thing i can think of that happened.

I'd definitely love to see the area around the station and busway ramp redone.

My concern is the amazing amount of crime in that region, but I hope they do well. Would be great if Wilkinsburg would get back to the old days when it was a nice place.
