Thanks for the civic boosterism, h_curtis. Between this and the UPMC 60 minutes piece, you've become a valuable resource.

I am trying to be more popular in the new year. Maybe as popular as yourself or Brian. Well, maybe not that popular, but I do want to point out a couple of things. 1. The breakthrough at UPMC is pretty amazing. 2. For Pittsburgh to be considered a place to visit as a "destination", is also a big deal for us. Considering our wonderful designation of the "smokey city". What do you think?

I heard that and thought, could this become the new branding effort like "North Shore" to reset the area's reputation?

(When said with a British accent, the name did sound rather cool.)

What a coincidence. Two days ago I met a young man from Oregon who is attending CMU, and he said he quickly grew fond of Pittsburgh because it reminded him of Portland.

I kind of like the way she said "Liberty East." It must have been the accent. Everything sounds so proper when they say it.

I guess for a rule then, anyone who says Liberty East must say it in a British accent. I wonder where they came up with that though.

There was a pregnant pause before she said Liberty East. I suspect she was fumbling to recall the name.

The city I am from in Ireland is like Pittsburgh. It has hills, rivers and of course bridges. Houses are built on hills and at night the lights are like Pittsburgh. That was one reason why we choose here.
I am pressuming they meant Birmingham,UK.
