I am currently a freshman at Pitt, so don't have a car. I'm looking at taking a position at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, but want to make sure I can actually get there, especially in the winter.
The address of the lab is 450 Technology Drive. When I looked online, there didn't really seem to be a way to get there by bus, and walking looked just as fast. Riding a bike seemed like it might be a good option, but that wouldn't work at all during some of the crazy snowfalls we get. However, timing is also an issue, as I have quite a few classes to contend with on campus and well as this position off campus. What is the safest and quickest way to get there for me? Thanks!

Pitt runs several busses for their students, including a route from the campus down to Technology Dr. which runs all day.

Do you happen to know the name of this buss or where I can find more information about it? Because I can't seem to find it.

The bus is "40A Biotech Center" and starts its route at the Cathedral.

if you search for "University of Pittsburgh bus schedule", you'll find the files for all Pitt run bus schedules, they have 8 to 10 different routes to North Oakland, South Oakland and the upper campus.

I would suggest riding a bike when the snowfall melts. That is a really nice ride and mostly trail which is great. Always lock your bike well.

Here is the link to the Pitt schedules and routes:
Routes & Schedules

On the new web page, if you click "Information for Students", on the right, then, "Bus Schedules and Routes" is under "Living".

I wish the new page had a main site map

Other than the 40A Biotech shuttle, there's also one that picks up right in front of McGowan and stops in front of the Falk pharmacy on Fifth Ave. I think it's a UPMC shuttle, so it isn't listed on Pitt's website, but everybody at McGowan uses it, reagrdless of whether they are UPMC or Pitt. Ask at the front desk.
