Mr. Mauck visited Hidden Valley shortly before Christmas accompanied by Ed Very, an officer of the resort and a senior vice president for the Buncher Company, which owns Hidden Valley.

Mr. Mauck's tour of Hidden Valley preceded a Dec. 31 visit by Seven Springs Chairman Bob Nutting, who is an accomplished skier.

I think the ski prices have about topped out. The volume of people is lower and they are right on the edge of people giving the sport up unless you have piles of money. That being said, if there is a monopoly, I don't think it will have much impact on skiers as far as expense. The price for a season pass holder is about $20 more a year since the Duprees owned the resort. I think it is about where it can be. The season is pretty short and there are years that it are horrible, like last year and probably this year, so how much can they charge for a chance at skiing. I am not sure it is a good investment considering the obvious climate change, but the Nuttings have made some nice improvements at Seven Springs as far as the lodge goes. Skiing is about the same as it was back then as far as I am concerned. Would love a fast lift on the North Face slope, that would be great! Interesting article though.

There's been a fast lift on the North Face. Gunnar 6 pack is the fastest lift at 7 springs.

Yeah, I know, but I want one on the North Face Slope. I live on that one at Gunnar. Just asking for one more over there.

Ah gotcha. I agree. North Face lift is painful. It serves some of the best slopes on the mountain but takes like 15 minutes to ride up that slow lift

When the Nutting family buys Hidden Valley, the Buncher family will use the money to buy property all over the city so that nobody will ever have to worry about finding parking again.

I hope this means that we can buy ONE pass for both resorts. It's quite common in other areas where you have a common owner of multiple locations.

I hope that means they give the lodge and accommodations at Hidden Valley a badly needed renovation.

There are a TON of listings in that complex. Might be a good time to buy.

I read somewhere that the majority of ski resorts in the eastern US will cease to exist in a decade or two due to global warming. I'm trying to track that article down right now. If that's really the case, I'm not sure why anyone would be trying to purchase more mountains.
