They caught the guys, who ratted out the husband, and he left the earth via "Old Sparky".

Now THAT'S good history.

I just WISH I could find out if it's true..... I mean -- it would have to have been in the newspapers, but I don't have a time frame. I would think that house would have been from the 20's or 30's. The house I grew up in was built in 1949, if I remember correctly, and at that time the great details I love about older architecture has was waning -- for instance, we didn't have wide baseboards, we had the more fashionable inch and a half. Our hardwood floors were a lighter oak. We didn't have carved detailed doors, they were slab doors. Our front door had three windows.

And I don't think I can access Pittsburgh papers out here on Microfilm...

Cranberry was well known in my circle of existence in Beaver County too, even back in the 60s.

Thanks, wasn't sure of the exact name. Back in the "day" the main attraction was the Conley's Hotel right off the Turnpike on our way to 79. Who could have predicted what there is now?

Ah, yes, Conley's. There was one in Beaver Falls, too, by the turnpike. I'm not sure if it's still there.

Still there. I went to school with the son, spoiled son of a *****. They had one at every t-pike exit. Now he is selling the sites and concentrating on the golf course in Butler.

It's literally Cranberry's only piece of history that's worth a damn, and they don't think twice about demolishing it. At least they are consistent up there, as they continue whoring themselves out to crappy new development for a quick buck.

Stupid question: what's the harm in just letting the building remain as-is? I can't imagine that it poses much of a danger to anyone, given it's location, so what's wrong with letting it rot away another decade or two, just in case someone eventually decides it's something worth saving?
