It's so Venice (Beach, CA, not Italy, although maybe they have it there, too).

It is all over the place.

It is coming to even a place like Philly and NYC where crime is... well insane.

Of course places in CA, OR and Wash are going to be ahead of us, but we are moving forward and that is good.

I'm somewhat surprised that there aren't one or two stations in Squirrel Hill on the proposed first draft to be honest. I mean, it's a fairly dense residential/commercial neighborhood with Schenley and Frick parks nearby as well as bike infrastructure already in place on several of the streets in the area. Maybe the terrain is a bit daunting? I mean, it's no Greenfield, Spring Hill, or Beechview!

Regardless, I think this is a fantastic idea! One great thing Ravenstahl has accomplished during his tenure is actively collaborating with City Planning and Bike Pittsburgh to improve the city for bikes and pedestrians. A project like this should only continue to improve Pittsburgh in that regard.

That's why I'd like another young mayor.

Crime is "insane" in New York City? What decade are we talking about? The murder rate in New York is about the same as in Wichita, Kansas.

Federal tax money is paying for this.

That sequester really was draconian, wasn't it?

Because murder is the only crime...

My question with the bike share is how do they track all the bikes? Is it like an honor system for people to return them, or is there a way to find the bikes that may go missing? I'd like to think no one will attempt to steal these, but then I enter back into reality. Anyone know how other cities do this?

Also, I'd assume the bikes would be maintained periodically to keep them in great operating shape.
