As if ousting a capable transit CEO in favor of shoveling in a friend whose legacy is now tainted by a history of corruption at his former agency wasn't bad enough I now read this morning that our illustrious county executive is trying to have more billboards established throughout the area.

County eyes billboards for revenues | TribLIVE

"Dawida attended council's public works committee meeting on Thursday as members voted to table the proposal. The committee must approve it before the full council votes. County Executive Rich Fitzgerald proposed the idea."

I live in Polish Hill, and our aesthetic beauty is horribly marred already by a sea of billboards. Can't this man find any other strategic way of raising new revenues without destroying the beauty of our area?

I hate the idea of billboards, I sure hope people speak out against this.

The billboards that already exist are as ugly as sin, exactly what we don't need is more of them.

Lets put some of these billboards in Squirrel Hill and see what Fitzgerald has to say about it then.

Mr. Fitzgerald wants more revenues to spend, yet realizes that increased taxes would be unpopular with the voters.

So he's floating this idea to come up with some more scratch.

Convincing a politician like this to live within his means is a difficult task.

BTW, there are billboards in Squirrel already, no? Along Forward Ave. near I376 and on Browns Hill as well, I think I've seen them.

There are bilboards there already, yes.

I think billboards add character to a place, kinda like rowhouses.

The less billboards the better, they should just utilize naming or pouring rights at County property.

I'd rather have Mr. O instead of Mr. Corbett in office.
