I found this in the Pennsylvania forum.

//www.city-data.com/forum/penns...-codes-pa.html

Fox Chapel ranks 57th. Mt. Lebanon ranks 100th. Sewickley isn't on the list.

Many Pittsburgh zip codes rank ahead of them.

Bradford Woods is 11th in the state.

Warrendale 16th

Upper St. Claire 19th

Wexford 24th

Cranberry 61st

Murrysville 62nd

Mars 68th

Allison Park 92nd

(Interestingly, McMurray isn't on there.)

Is the comparison simply totaling the incomes of the entire populations for each zip code?

I've seen statistics repeatedly show Fox Chapel being among the top of having the most wealth in the state.

Since it has a smaller population than the other areas, totaling income would explain everything but Bradford Woods ranking ahead of it.

I'm too messed up on Sudafed right now to figure this out. Maybe someone else can.

Zip Codes are not the same as municipalities. Fox Chapel may be split among multiple Zip Codes... and/or may be lumped in with other less wealthy municipalities.

It is because we don't have neighborhood zip codes. Fox Chapel has two zip codes. 15215 is also Sharpsburg, O'Hara and probably a little more thrown in. 15238 is Blawnox and a few others thrown in. Zip codes mean about nothing in our region. There are some regions it does mean something, but not here. Fox Chapel is the second wealthiest town in Pennsylvania. As far as zip codes go, it doesn't really work that way.

Geez, Evergrey is ahead of the curve as usual.

Mt. Lebanon is split into at least 5 Zip Codes.

Zip Code Finder and Boundary Map.

Thanks! I'm cognitively challenged today. All I knew is the list didn't make sense.

Why would someone make a zip code comparison in a state where municipalities don't match zip codes?

Lazy, but want "content" sufficient to get clicks.

Gibsonia, #95, take out West Deer, East Deer, and the slums of Hampton were Hopes lives, and it's at least Top 10.

McMurray is part of the 15317 ZIP code which includes Canonsburg, and parts of Cecil, N. Strabane, and Peters Townships (and probably a few others).

I grew up near that area and never considered McMurray to be a town, it was just what you referred to the area near Donaldson's Crossroads and along E. McMurray and Valley Brook Roads. Entering it into Google Maps, you can see that Peters Township=McMurray as far as boundaries go, although there are also parts of the 15367 Venetia ZIP that also encompass the area colloquially referred to as "McMurray".

Are ZIP codes everywhere this confusing or is this another one of those Western PA idiosyncrasies?
