Yes and this is why the flight from Pittsburgh to Toronto is so short because they can fly in a straight line. It would be nice if they ever establish a high speed boat from Erie to Canada. This would make it much easier/quicker for Yinzers and Canadians to travel in the summer time.

I've done Chicago to Pittsburgh in about 7 hours. Nice easy drive if you do it at night when most sane people are sleeping.

Are these the fastest driving routes or the shortest distance? The shortest distance is not always the fastest route, or the best route. In driving from Denver to Pittsburgh, we have found that taking 1-80 across Nebraska/Iowa is faster (due to higher speed limits), has far more services en route, and avoids Kansas City and St. Louis in favor of Omaha and the Quad Cities, smaller cities with less traffic, than going across Kansas and Missouri on I-70. It's also about 50 miles farther this way.

As noted in my post, it is the fastest route, not the shortest route, according to Google Maps. It also ignores traffic, since that is variable. "Best" route is too subjective for mapping software, methinks.
