My family and I are relocating to PA within the next few months. Can anyone tell me a nice place to move close to Pittsburgh with low crime? We have 2 children and were looking for a good place to raise the kids with a good school system. Any information would be helpful and appreciated.
Thank you

Are you intested in a suburbian or city neighborhood?

We want to live in a suburb. I heard Greentree was nice. Just any place that has a low crime rate, and good schools.

Here is a good place to compare schools: http://www.greatschools.net/

Renting: Craigslist (as mentioned before), Realtor.com, also has a rental area, and call a realtor in the area to help you!

I'm not crazy about it, but that's only because it's next to Crafton and I don't like Crafton.

Are you going to be working downtown?

Are you interested in eventually buying a home?

There are many good school districts in the suburbs, but some are fairly expensive for housing.

I just want to get a feel for what you're looking for before I recommend an area.

You could probably find an affordable, small rental house in O'Hara Township which is part of the Fox Chapel School district which is very good. O'Hara is sort of a rural area that's about 20 minutes from downtown (30 during rush hour). Shaler is another convenient township to downtown. Just don't rent a place in Etna or Millvale (river towns that are part of the Shaler schools) or Sharpsburg (rivier town that is part of the Fox Chapel schools).

My Husband will be covering the state of PA, but we would like to be somewhat close to downtown. I heard there is a lot of unique places to eat, and just a lot to do there. We want to rent just until we know for sure where we want to buy. It is so hard to find a place over the internet, I appreciate all the info. O'Hara sounds nice. What do you think about Greentree?
