I've been living downtown for about four years now and don't own a car. Zipcar is great for short trips to the grocery store, but i've been thinking about buying a car. The only problem is parking. My building charges a little over $200 per month with a resident discount.

Does anyone know of any reasonable residential parking leases downtown? I don't mind if it's covered or not. My searches haven't come up with anything much cheaper than my building.

Any other ideas would be appreciated as well.

$200 is pretty low; I don't think there's much of anything lower unless you want to walk a ways to it. There's an open lot up by Washington Plaza apartments that used to be $100/month, and maybe lots in the near Strip that could be that low. My guess is that's not near where you're living, but if it is that could be an option. If the car is too far away from your building though it will be nearly as inconvenient as not having it. There are a couple surface lots in town of course but they're probably either a) full and/or b) not any cheaper than $200.

The Chatham garage might be lower.

$200 a month is a decent price for downtown parking, I don't think you can do much better than that. Residents, from my understanding, get priority on those leases over commuters.

I'll echo the others; $200 a month, including daytime parking sounds like a bargain for a downtown lease.

$200 is definitely not a bad deal for Downtown proper. You could get it down to $135 at the W. General Robinson Garage if you don't mind taking the T a stop or two for free.

Thanks for the input. I was just trying to gauge if there was anything cheaper out there.
