Below is the complete demolition list for June 20, 2013. Following the list are photographs I took yesterday of some of the more significant historic buildings being demolished. I'm not suggesting that all of these could or should be saved. I am simply recording the disappearing urban fabric of our city.

What a shame. Some of the places look to be in pretty good shape from the outside. But looks can be deceiving. There could be water damage, holes in the roof, stripped plumbing and electrical, vermin... I think I've driven past the house on Woods Run. Too bad there isn't some program that releases the new owner from any delinquent taxes and offers no/low interest loans to prospective buyers. It seems like a better way to save homes from deterioration and destruction. It would ultimately help restore the tax base to an area and keep neighborhoods intact.

The churches make me especially sad. You can see how an individual homeowner might fall on hard times, but when a church is abandoned it means the entire community is gone. Not saying that losing houses is any better, just what it symbolizes.

The Spring Way looks interesting, the end units are occupied and the interior ones boarded up.

If the 3 units in the middle were razed, the folks on the end would have detached single family housing.

None of the houses on Spring Way were occupied. They were boarded up on the front, facing the alley.

some of those houses look like they could be used for a horror movie.

Some of them definitely look like they were gorgeous once upon a time. Sad.

The East Lacock is interesting, because its so alone and by itself underneath the Vets Bridge.

I looks like it was the hub of a lot of activity, and looks sad as the other buildings, all of its friends, are long gone.

It looks like the one at 732 E Lacock, next to the big one, is owned by the URA. The big one is not, and current with taxes.
