Does anyone know how this actually works? Can you be just be walking down the street in front of Target and have a signal?

There, fixed. No Coffee Tree for confusion. Just want to know how it works. Do you have to live there and have some code/account? Can you just be passing by and get a signal?

wouldn't Coffee Tree already have free Wifi?

I don't see why not though. It's great that this will help a low-income area like Larimer but I'm guessing the main reason they are doing this is because so many Google employees are in the area. They will probably make you sign up for a Google account if you don't already have one and Google stand to profit from people who previously did not have internet access now clicking on their ads.

Speaking of wi-fi, does anyone else have a hard time getting xfinity wifi to work on your phone while you're out and about? I usually have to turn wifi off.

Do you know why this happens?

The thing with xfinity is my phone changes over to it as soon as it detects a router, it does not care about signal strength. My phone only does it to xfinity public wifi, it doesn't connect to my home automatically.

It's usually done by installing a large number of outdoor wireless access points across an area. So yes, you should be able to walk down the sidewalks of Larimer and East Liberty, and there will be a wireless network that you'll be able to connect to. Probably requires a Google account for authentication.

Probably due to the fact that XFINITY wifi requires you to authenticate with your XFINITY account before you get internet access. If you "forget" the network on your phone, you shouldn't have to disable your WiFi all the time.

P.S. Hi everyone, I'm new here.

When I leave home, the Wi-Fi setting on my phone switches automatically to Xfinity Wi-Fi.
