Well, I'm all for the guys and gals on detail who direct traffic out of my downtown parking garage at 5pm on weekdays. But all that crap with 100 officers being paid just for the scheduling of others, that's a bit nuts yeah.

I don't particularly care if the traffic directing folks are off-duty cops or not, but the city might.

Pittsburgh police officers' side jobs will test new Mayor Peduto | TribLIVE
I'm going to come up with an App--If you need an off-duty officer, you log into my system via facebook, and if an off-duty officer is nearby, and available, you make the deal for them to come and work for you. Sure, the guys running the show now are going to be POed, and fight it, but the existing system needs overhauled. And they all wear pink mustaches...

Lets fact it this off duty stuff is the same as the old mafia deal. You gonna hire us for protection for a fee or else. We all know that is what it is all about. Back in my days of going out and partying, the police with dogs would be in front of the O across the street. They were always there. Of course if the O said no to the mafia/police they lost the cops across the street. Someone died. Who's fault is it? One has to wonder.

Thank for posting this update. It will be interesting to see what happens with the lawsuit. I hope the new mayor puts a stop to this police mafia stuff. Love Ditchdigger' new ap idea!
