The hotels in Greentree don't charge for parking, and I'd hesitate to recommend the ones on Banksville Road, but they don't charge, either.

I don't think there are any, but knowing it's definitely Wyndham at $125, and $21 for parking, that's not too bad really. Only the hotels on the North Shore are closer. Not sure if any of those will be less, but they are: Hyatt Place, Residence Inn and SpringHill Suites.

If you don't mind parking your car and walking a few blocks there are other garages downtown with lower rates on the weekend. 6th Avenue and Duquesne Blvd. would the equivalent of about a four block walk or so and it's $8.75 for 24 hours on the weekend. So if you are truly parking and not using your car at all, you could always unload your bags at the hotel and then park your car yourself.

Not many, and I don't think any downtown or at the North Shore have free parking. The Quality Inn on Blvd of the Allies in Oakland offers free parking.

However, if the OP is arriving on Saturday afternoon and leaving on Sunday, he could pay for meter parking until 6:00, then everything after that would be free. OP, meters are not enforced after 6pm and not at all on Sunday. The meters are $3/hr downtown.

If it's okay to gamble on which hotel, Hotwire is showing $85 for a downtown area 3.5-star (their rating system) on Saturday at the moment. You'll still have to pay for parking, but that knocks around $40 off the room price (a little less because once you get the real total they'll build in a little fee). The map of the zone makes the "worst cases" possibly the Sheraton Station Square or Marriott City Center I guess, those would be the farthest away places. Still walkable or from Station Square you can take the Gateway Clipper boat. It's even possible this would be the Wyndham. There are no hotels within their downtown zone map that would be awful choices to my knowledge. There are only half a dozen possibilities.

I didn't see anywhere too close by that would make it worthwhile to stay farther away and drive. I mean, there are places you could find but you'd have to drive a ways before the savings would be worth it compared to the ease of not having to drive in and out amongst such a crowd.
