Sweet pics, Jonathon. I hope you find a house you like there. Do you have to go through the SH Tunnel to get there from EL?

Thanks, Jay. It's not the only neighborhood / town I'm interested in. It helps to walk the streets and talk to the locals in order to find a house and assess a community, though. From East Liberty, you can take Penn Ave / Woodward down to Turtle Creek and take 30 into Pitcairn. I would have a reverse commute, so it would be a piece of cake.

Getting from East Liberty to McKees Rocks in the morning is no walk in the park. I have to fight traffic going inbound, before I can go outbound from downtown / North Side, depending on whether I take 28 or Fifth Ave / 376. Still, if traffic isn't bad, I can get to work or home within half an hour.

LOL. People always ask why there are no people in my photographs. I usually wait for them to pass, out of respect, otherwise I get weird stares or paranoid comments.

There are a lot of people who think I am a property assessor for the county! Or a spy, or a cop.

Awesome - I am loving the Monroeville historic house tour! I had no idea how many frontier era homes still existed there.

I love these houses (wish they weren't duplexes, not that it really matters).
Those look like they were originally designed as duplexes (technically "semi-detached"), so I think it's best to keep them that way. I think they are kind of a happy compromise between a rowhome and a detached home.

Crime-wise, something has gone terribly wrong in Pitcairn in the last decade:

//www.city-data.com/city/Pitcai...nsylvania.html

According to City Data's own statistics crime has exploded 3-fold in the past decade, from the mid to low 100s, to the 400-500s range. Is it a statistical fluke because of an overall small population or has a gang of car thieves taken up residence in the city?

Great photos,as always. Looks like a neighborhood with potential. The house with the Christmas lights and the missing bricks looks like it has an interesting story.
