Bloomfield ready for another Columbus Day parade | Allegheny Co. News - WTAE Home

If you're planning to cut through Bloomfield today, it should be quite a mess. The parade is on Liberty which will be closed- Penn Avenue is already closed going eastbound from Pearl St.

Was the Bike Lane actually open on Liberty during the parade?

Oh great, now all cyclists are lumped together with this idiot riding on the road through a parade. Yep, we ALL do that now because of that idiot. Wonder why people just categorize everyone if some idiot does something like that? Oh well, the damage is done. Pretty much the same as the hate crime in Lawrenceville. Doesn't matter that it was just some dumb bar fight type thing, it is forever a hate crime. It is what it is.

Kinda like the way some people feel about pickup truck drivers, isn't it?

This is why cyclists should be licensed and insured.

This is true, but my reaction towards them only affects myself because I am just looking for a route away from them. This comes from years of cycling and profiling. Everyone profiles, but most don't want to admit it because it isn't politically correct. I am not aggressive towards them and they don't even know I profiled them. If I was aggressive towards them, I would be a stain on the road.

Can you understand the difference? The vehicle drivers that hate cyclists can cause death. A cyclists could cause death to a pedestrian, but a pedestrian can also cause death to a cyclist. Cyclists aren't exactly in a powerful position. The idiot that was riding down the road during a parade was just that. An idiot, but most cyclists don't do stupid things. If they did, there would be a lot more deaths and even more people hating us. As is it right now, only 80% of motorists probably hate us.
