I haven't been to most neighborhoods for Halloween and I suspect that's true for most people, making comparisions difficult, but I can say that we get a ton of kids coming around in the Mexican War Streets, many more than we did when living on the Southside. Rowhouse neighborhoods have the advantage of having a new front door every twenty feet, so it's very efficient for the kids. We gave out over 400 pieces of candy last year before running out...crazy.

Every kid knows the true test is what percentage of homes give out full-sized candy bars, haha.

I have heard that Highland Park's trick or treating is insane. A co-worker described it as the fall of Saigon.

It depends on the street. If you have a hill or if your house is up a steep flight of stairs, it won't be so much.

Another selling point of Brookline....kids are too lazy to walk up a hill for candy these days....I bought a house in the middle of a long hill, with houses only on one side, so it is not worth it for most kids...the output to reward ratio is just not high enough for them...

The best neighborhood for kids to trick or treat in is their own.

I remember filling up pillow cases of candy by going all over the marshall-shadeland area and parts of brighton heights about 20 years ago. but back then you could go out as a young child for 3-4 hours without adult supervision and it was no big deal. also you could stay out getting candy til around 10pm. Not the case these days.
