That's true. I guess it is the same reason people venture out for that "fusion" cuisine man. I heard that there is a place like this in the East End where people venture from afar to try the specialities of a hot shot young chef who breaks all of the rules by mixing salsa AND teriyaki sauce on the chicken. I'll gladly pay $25.00 for something that ingenious.

Casa Rasta is very good. With entrees well below the $25.00 mark cited by GeeWhiz, so I don't think it qualifies as an overpriced example of silly fusion concepts.

Honestly...I was just looking for a "different" fusion concept....and wasn't passing any judgements (haven't tried it yet but am very eager to do so).

Wow, that looks awesome...but - will I have to listen to reggae? I had my fill back in the 70s.

I know that this isn't the foodie thread. Don't get me wrong, I am excited about the fact that Pittsburgh is having an explosion of new and innovative restaurants. I just can't help but notice that there is sometimes an element of posing that goes along with it. Not to sound like a yinzer, but sometimes a nice hot meat loaf sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy for $7.99 is quite satisfying. Not that I wish Pittsburgh would be stuck with this mentality, just a thought. I am guilty as the next person for trying that latest hot spot, with pinky pointed firmly to the ceiling. This is the new Pittsburgh.

That would be off the chain! There would be lines going around the block just to try such an avant garde concept. You could literally charge whatever you wanted, especially if the decor and lounge area promote the sort of cool and pretentious vibe that so many seem to embrace.

On the off chance this isn't yet another "Gee Whiz" spew of sarcasm, will you please tell us where Pittsburgh's best hot meat loaf sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy is to be found? I love the stuff, but have never found any worth mentioning in a restaurant.
