How come anybody who works in porn is a porn "star" and all models are "super" models? There are probably 5,000,0000 people who act in porn and they can't ALL be stars.

I don't even think an article like this would have appeared in a general circulation newspaper in the 60s or 70s. It was all too underground back then. The only ones I recall ever being mentioned were Marilyn Chambers (a porn actress who was also the model mother on boxes of Ivory Snow detergent) and Harry Reems. Oh, and of course, Linda Lovelace. But I don't think any of them were refered to as "stars."

I think it is kind of like the term "rockstar" and it is just a label that was created and somehow stuck. I definitely would not call Justin Biber a "Rockstar," but many people do and that is just the reality of the situation.
