Restaurants open Christmas Day(?) (Lebanon, Fox Chapel: hotel, house, eat)

So I checked OpenTable - they're showing just ten or so - mostly Buca di Beppo/McCormick and Schmicks...etc.

Anyone have any recommendations?

This is for a friend coming in from out of town to meet family, so just trying to help him out.

Think Chinese. I've eaten at New Dumpling House (Squirrel Hill) on Christmas in the past.

Or Thai. The people at Smiling Banana Leaf (Highland Park) told me they were open part of the day on Thanksgiving.

Most of the Asian places don't open here though because there's not enough concentration of people who will go. There might be a couple open.

Hotel restaurants are usually open. Other than that hit or miss. Don't have any specific recs. I wouldn't even trust OpenTable to be correct; call the restaurants to be sure. On the other hand, OpenTable is only used by a small number of area restaurants so there will probably be more than those 10 even if those are correct.

I'd think most of the ones in Squirrel Hill will be open. You might even find one around Mt. Lebanon, Fox Chapel, or even Churchill (if operating off historical precedent).

Salem's Grill in the 2900 block of Penn was open during previous Christmases, I suspect they'll be open again. Good food, but strictly low-brow ethnic cuisine.
