South Fayette high school slaughtered Philadelphia Imotep charter school today with a score of 41-0. For what used to be a small country school, south Fayette has come a long way.

Considering it's my sons second year at the school and both have been in state competitions, it has been an awesome year.

That's Great! Now if Central Catholic can win, Pittsburgh area High Schools will have a clean sweep in Hershey.

I was personally excited to hear North Catholic won. I'm glad the bells got to ring one last time in Troy Hill.

Never understood why people think it is some huge deal when a private school recruits players and wins the big title. Big deal. It is laughable. I think it would be more important to do better in the classroom to be honest and Central isn't exactly known for that. I don't know about South Fayette, but at least it is a public school that can't recruit children that are good at sports to make it some big deal. It certainly is more of a joke than anything else.

Many private schools were trying to recruit my son. I wouldn't allow it. I didn't want that to be his worth to a school. Imagine how it ruins a child if injured. Losing a scholarship means losing friends. When a children are suffering the loss of doing something they love, the last thing they need is to lose their school and social life at the same time. I wish more parents would think of this before they send their children off to private schools on sports scholarships.

Also, it's important to make sure college contracts guarantee a 4 year scholarship even if permanently injured. I had a boyfriend who attended one of our area's elite private schools on scholarship. He landed a scholarship at one of the major football universities, ended up permanently injured his first year, and had a lengthy court battle to force the university to uphold the contract for four years. This is why I have such a strong opinion about sports scholarships. They use and abuse the kids and toss them to the trash.
