Nothing to be sorry about! I clearly didn't get what you were 'Just sayin'.
I said nothing about anyone's looks. I said that Ms. Javens was the first elected mayor in Pennsylvania. Ms. Masloff got elected b/c she was first appointed.

Since I consider Beaver to be part of the Pittsburgh metro, Katiana is inadvertently supporting that SWPA is forward thinking. Shhhh...don't tell her.
But that's not the thread title. The thread title says "Pittsburgh". I mentioned Beaver Falls' woman mayor early on, in post #31. Everyone chose to ignore that, b/c BF falls into that "Yinzer/Hillbilly" category that some were talking about.

Sophie was mayor when I moved here so I'll never forget some of that stuff, like what she said when Bill Clinton was on the phone.

No, she was not originally elected. She was appointed after a previous mayor died. Incumbency gave her a huge advantage when she did run. She was elected to council.

But she had the vision to build a baseball only stadium along the river. I loved that woman.

Masloff wasn't appointed, she was in the line of succession when Caliguiri passed on- just like Ravenstahl was in the current era.

Speaking of Mrs. Masloff, it was her 96th birthday yesterday.

Merry Christmas, everyone (especially you, Sophie )!
