It will be annoying to say the least if Pitt ends up playing one of the losing record schools.

If they win they'll pad their stats. Barely anybody remembers who played in bowl games unless it's a significant/big bowl game. 8-4 isn't going to draw a "sexy" opponent.

If the players bodies could take the abuse enough to keep the quality of play up, college and pro football would go year round...especially the NFL.
When do we reach market saturation? You have to wonder who is watching some of the games that are broadcast. ESPN and the other networks are able to take a meaningless game and sell advertising around it. Yet it seems like they keep replaying the same commercials. Many times they will replay the same commericial during the a single commercial break.

While I'm a die-hard football fan and watch most every game every week, I don't participate in fantasy sports and IMO is the most ridiculous part of sports. Many don't even watch the games for the play. They watch for their fantasy players, stats, leagues, etc...

I don't ever see oversaturation with football. Not just because it's the most popular pro sport and has been for a long time, but also because of the lack of interest/popularity/broadcasting of other pro sports.

It will be annoying to say the least if Pitt ends up playing a 5-7 or 6-6 team.

I understand what you are saying about the NFL, but what is the national interest in college games such as Middle Tennessee vs. Western Michigan in the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl, or Appalachian State vs. Northern Illinois in the Carmelia Bowl, or numerous other regular season and bowl games. Compare these meaningless games to a possible 1st round playoff game like Clemson vs. Ole Miss, or Florida State vs. Oklahoma, if there was a 16 game playoff schedule this year. In a 16 game playoff, all of the games would attract huge television audiences.

I get it and agree about the all but meaningless and non-interesting games...but people will watch, bets will be made, $$$ will be exchanged, etc...

Personally, I would love to see a 16 game college football playoff.

Pitt will be in a lower tier bowl essentially, but the plus side is not a bad location and its a decent opponent.
