Pitt has a long way to go before they can properly compete with ND for local recruits. They need about 10 years of solid commitment from the administration, with consistency and minimal screwups. We have Steve Pederson and his two tenures to thank for constant changes and screwups over the last 20 years. In addition, some boneheaded decisions were made in the years prior to Steve. At least now Pitt finally seems to get it, by giving the fans (their customers) what they have been asking for with a complete rebranding and using the script logo for all sports. But, what happens once a new AD or presidents takes the helm? History (the past 35 years) has shown that they will drop the ball. Let's hope not.

I like the glory days look of the script but short of a clone of Dan Marino, it's not going to make for wins. They need to definitely not drop the ball and get some coaching stability that can recruit some talent, especially when it's in your back yard.

One logo isn't going to win games for any team, but constantly tinkering with such things certainly hurts the image of a program, which can certainly lead to fewer wins. This is exactly what Pitt has done. Unless you're Oregon, don't do it.

Ummm, no. A logo has zero to do with wins/losses. Nor does a uniform. You can change the logos and uniforms of every top team every year and it's not going to lessen their record. Talent never plays to their uniform.

Since you actually believe the glory day script will make a difference, what do you predict their record to be this season?

Of course, I never said that the script will improve wins. Try rereading my post.

Tinkering with things such as image or a uniform has nothing to do with less wins. Pitt has done nothing since the 80's with script or not.

What's your prediction for wins for this season?

I don't have a prediction yet. Have not reviewed the schedule closely to see what games are likely wins, losses or tossups.

And tinkering with uniforms and logos, as Pitt has done often, can certainly impact results on the field, though not directly. Those things matter. We aren't likely to ever agree on this.

Looking forward to your prediction.

It's been proven to have zero effect for Pitt for decades. Talent and coaching wins games. You could put Pitt in a new stadium in Oakland and script uniforms and they still will never win a national championship.

Proven as when was the last time Pitt won or even sniffed a national championship?

How many significant bowl games have they played in or won since the 80's?
