What does the present University/faculty/program have to do with those involved in the scandal?

should have made that split between both sports.. college baseball is not popular around here
Well, the donors for that wonderful facility wanted to support college baseball, whether you think it was a worthy endeavor or not. Have you been to a baseball, or softball game there? It is a fun venue, and you are real close to the action.

Perhaps you would like to fund the stadium you feel is so desperately needed...

personal attack^ I don't get your attitude.. I am a pitt alum and I feel strongly about the football and basketball program. students need to be able to walk to the stadium and party outside of it

So, in order to draw more than 40,000 fans, you need to build a stadium on campus that holds 25,000-40,000??

As am I. And not only do I feel strongly about the many athletic programs, I attend and support several of them (some for decades).
Walking to a stadium that is used 6 times a year is not a need, and there are plenty of partying opportunities outside Heinz Field.

I am making clear sense... 40k fans in a 65k stadium looks bad and makes for a weak environment... I said build a 40k stadium so its stuffed to capacity so it will be a rocking house

The only thing that looks "bad" and "weak" is Pitt's defense. Put a great product on the field and every seat will be full and a "rocking house".

There's a whole lot to be said for coming to play where the 6x Super Bowl Champs play.

As to recruits looking to the SEC, in this case you should probably, depending on the school, turn your sights down. It would have to be a recruit from the area or a huge desire for the area to choose Pitt over a top SEC school.

I agree with the view that Heinz Field is too big for Pitt. While the 25K proposal is ridiculous, they really do need their own stadium in Oakland. A 50,000 seat venue would be perfect, but Pitt also needs support from the administration, which is something they didn't have much of when Pitt Stadium was around. The lack of repairing and upgrading Pitt Stadium in the 70s and 80s when Pitt was one of the best programs in the land, combined with the lack of institutional support, created the problems that would later follow and still exist today.

It is a shame, really. Seems like the only consistent thing Pitt has done regarding football in the last 30 years has been one bad decision after another.
