i always thought if I was an attorney I would find a few families that lost a life of a family member because they were driving an SUV too fast for conditions because of the marketing techniques of the auto makers used to the poor folks falling for all that crap they see on TV that SUVs can do everything. They are HORRIBLE at braking and are so dangerous in so many ways. Sue the auto makers and make a few million for showing the "closed track professional driver" crap. I see SUVs in ditches and wrecked into trees all the time. They don't handle well and are just too top heavy to drive fast especially in snowy conditions. Get one sliding sideways and hit a clear patch and bye, bye.

It was so bad this morning, you have no idea. 2" of snow and the city was paralyzed. My google traffic app was lit up like a Christmas tree with red covering all the green.

I do.
But the snow started well before rush hour. Roads which had been treated were not bad. Not treating major roads before rush hour when the snow was forecast the previous day tells my the state dropped the ball.

Hate to tell yinz' that if you think this is poor treatment and road conditions, wait until we have an actual snowstorm. We haven't had one yet this year that I would call a "snowstorm". A dusting paralyzed Philadelphia when I was out there for Christmas. It was crazy that people that get a decent amount of snow are so ill prepared to drive in snow.

People on this forum scoff at the idea of snow tires, yet I saw 4 SUV's lose control this morning while I just coasted along in my little 4 cylinder with some Blizzaks.....

I relation to the small amount of snow we received, this was one of the worst examples of road treatment I have ever seen by PennDot and I have lived in Pittsburgh my whole life.

Yes sir. I had no problems in my Mustang with Winterforce tires....yet other people we're inching along, terrified to go above 15mph. I wish more people would consider snow tires. Maybe there wouldn't be gridlock every time we get an inch of snow because people are sliding all over the place on their "all-seasons".

I have all seasons but my car is AWD. Haven't driven it yet in really bad conditions. Do you think the AWD will help with all season tires?

My neighbor and I were joking that the SUV drivers were all, "Whee! I'm in a car ad! Wait, oh @#$*"

AWD will only help for acceleration and will not help with traction like snow tires would.
