Dollar bank didn't need bail out either.

I've had negative experience with PNC after some fraudulent checks were cashed on my account. I followed their instructions, the instructions of the police & investigators--but not only did they report negatively on my credit report AFTER the person was caught & convicted--they refused to remove the negative report-or to modify it.

So I was a victim twice. Once of a fraudulent thief, once of the PNC--PNC's credit reporting hurt me much more than the $2k in checks written-hurt me for years.

Also, several years AFTER-meaning more than 10 years after, I decided I would try them once again, when they had a promotion-I went to open an account--& low & behold--I was flagged due to the incident that occurred years previous.
They actually wanted me to pay all of the $$ for the checks plus fees that was deemed fraud & person was caught-and convicted-I explained I signed all of their papers & that the fraud dept explained it was covered--PNC said they could find no record of me being released---10 yrs later, but still had no problem demanding I pay them they $$ before they would open an account with me--I asked--if you cannot locate the records in the fraud dept how can you even ask me for the $$-there are court records & everything.

I left after a few choice words-I had no desire to fight to open an account with a bank that couldn't even pull the proper records from their own investigation.

So, um, PNC-no way. If anything goes wrong on your account, they do NOT have your back, in fact, they WILL STAB YOU IN THE BACK DURING & AFTER--yep--I still get upset over the issue. Nothing like being victimized then being humiliated...

IMHO, if you must go with a bank-go with Dollar, you are always a person 1st.

If it is not necessary to go with a bank--go with a credit union.
I had something similar happen to me with BofA .... Pittsburgh should hope and pray that Bank of America never enters the Burgh. They are EVIL!!!!! If they do, what ever bank they take over the customers need to close their account and run far away from those devils. PNC will look like angles compared to the schemes of BofA.

gotta agree BOA is crap, & stay far far away from them as far as mortgages...

Dollar Bank's people stay for years, including employees...That speaks volumes.

I see a LOT of turn over at PNC Bank on the employee end & I know a ton of dis-satisfied x-customers.
There seems to be a LOT of cut throat BS on the inside, & their customer service just never came close to Dollar Bank. If the employees are miserable, the customer service is going to lack, people care less about others when they are unhappy in their job.

IMHO yes--credit union 1st, it's getting easier to find local credit unions in PGH where you do not have to be anything other than a resident. I belong to 2. 1 through my work & 1 for where I used to live.

(im sure it will)

No sign of them eliminating T-rolls anytime soon. But, I would stick with them: regional bank, great service, easy to deal with.

^^^ I was one of the people who had their card cancelled, but mine was the mastercard debit card, not visa.

Found out on a saturday morning with a cart of groceries at giant eagle-had no cash on me, so --luckily I was in Brentwood & the dollar bank was right there & open on saturdays, so could get cash from a teller.

I did get a letter, but it read like my existing card would continue until I activated my new card, but cards were shut off 2/1/14.

DB mgr explained that with so many people being breached by Target & other store they wanted to err on the side of caution & just issued new cards. It was only a slight inconvenience for me, luckily, since it was my day off. Just thankful it did not happen on my way to work with an empty tank of gas, as I usually never carry cash.

For me, I like the mobile banking, and low overdraft fees (although the 24 hour thing sounds great). I don't always overdraft, but when I do, I don't want it to sink me. I like accessibility, but I don't want a Bank of America or Chase Bank.

You guys and gals are so helpful! Much appreciated.

+1 PNC. PNC has a great online banking site and their customer service is superb. I have had them since 2006 and have no intention of switching. Also +1 Huntington. They offer some competitive rates. BOA -1. So I guess I am in agreement with everyone else.

im a fan of dollar bank, too.

im holding a 15 year grudge against PNC that i refuse to let go of.

"Dollar" just sounds better than "PNC", which is too reminiscent of "MTV". yes, its all about aethetics, and cool a$$ lions.

All banks suck and are rip off specialists. I now have First national bank of Pa and they suck. They play games with your checking account. I will be looking for a new bank shortly.
