Not to nitpick, but people don't really drop $300k for 1,500 sq ft houses in "pioneering" neighborhoods of Pittsburgh -- Lawrenceville is well over the "pioneer" hump at this point.

OP - Any chance you have pets? Just asking because we have this awesome vet in Lawrenceville called the Big Easy Animal Hospital. Dr.Ruiz is downright awesome and moved up here following Katrina so she would be a good contact for you as well.

Check it out - The BIG EASY Animal Hospital - Lawrenceville, PA - (412) 908-9301

I appreciate everyone's help. I am glad I am on the right track.
Will the first weekend of April be too early to find a place?
Mountain love, I do have a puppy but she will be staying in New Orleans with my girlfriend.

Live in Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, or Friendship and walk to work. I don't know anything about the warehouse district in New Orleans, but these neighborhoods sound similar in convenience. Eschaton is correct that you should consider checking Craigslist for apartments in converted homes and smaller complexes.
