actually, they do...forcefully. once you leave montreal then you do run into that issue. I swear, quebec is just a shoein desperate place trying to hold onto a past they don't even earn.

hell, I think most of southern US which was mexico territory, have more rights to keep Mexican heritage than quebec does and im not being biased.

(waiting for folks who think im Mexican now)

I think you might want to read up on North American history, politics and government.

Canada isn't great because of the bacon?

I'm wondering what you mean by "they don't even earn". Permanent French settlement on the mainland of the continent predates that of the English, and Quebec is every bit as much conquered territory as the former Mexican territories in the US.

What do you mean? London is IN Canada.

So an area that was largely devoid of residents (or in the case of texas filled with American settlers) that was given over to the US as spoils of war has more of a 'right' to keep Mexican heritage (whatever that right even means in itself) then does a place that was settled by french speaking people from France whom were explicitly told to keep being french even after England took control (see Quebec act) and given a continued policy of statut particular for the province ever since.

Makes no sense

But be warned--in the UK everyone eats Danish bacon, which is more like Canadian bacon.

I think he may have been speaking in Polite Canadian and the appropriately nuanced translation is closer to "I am pleasantly surprised that unlike some undereducated individuals I could name, there are people who know anything about us at all" Quebecers are reputedly a bit more direct and not as prone to speaking in the Polite Canadian dialect but it does happen from time to time.
