Do you mean Pittsburgh here in PA... or one of the dozens of Pittsburgs in other states?

I think this needs to go to another forum, right?

You do realize you are comparing polar opposites of cities? Pittsburgh is east-coast urban. Atlanta is 95% suburban. Pittsburgh just recently started regaining population, and hasn't since the 1980s. Atlanta was tiny until 1980, and now is significantly larger? than Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has few sprawly exurbs. Atlanta is a sprawly suburb. Pittsburgh is North as it gets. Atlanta is south as it gets. Pittsburgh is cold in winter, and cool in summer. Atlanta is warm in winter, and hot in summer. They literally have 0 things in common.

No comparison. No similarities. Pittsburgh is similiar to cleveland or buffalo. Atlanta is a growing city

In terms of population and economic growth, Pittsburgh and Atlanta are both opposite of each other, but also ironic in their own ways. Between 2000 and 2010, Pittsburgh's population decreased, but it was a star in terms of "real" per capita income growth, with only a few major metropolitan areas doing better. On the other hand, Atlanta's population increased rapidly between 2000 and 2010, but real per capita income growth was negative. To put it more bluntly, Pittsburgh shrank but became richer, while Atlanta grew rapidly but became poorer, relatively speaking.

As for the other stuff, Atlanta has better shopping, but Pittsburgh has a better downtown. Nightlife is subjective. Pittsburgh's nightlife is more laid-back, whereas Atlanta's nightlife is more...posh, I guess. Basically, if you'd rather meet some friends at the bar for a couple of drinks, some bar food, and a game of pool or a game on TV, then Pittsburgh wins, but if you'd rather dress up, be seen and dance all night, then Atlanta wins.

Atlanta is much larger than Pittsburg, Kansas. Can't really compare the two.

People are getting on your case, as you've done ZERO research, so little you don't even know how to spell Pittsburgh.

Additionally, Pittsburgh and Atlanta are so incredibly different. People who have a preference for Pittsburgh or Pittsburgh-like cities, will mostly likely have little to no interest in Atlanta. Most likely, mutual for people in Atlanta.

The best, or the best culture, depends on you. What's a better culture, French or British? It's completely subjective dependent on the person debating the question.

While Atlanta has recovered well from its burning at the hands of General Sherman and is certainly booming at this point of time, it can't hold a candle to Pittsburg in terms of population and economic might. Atlanta holds a promising future as a regional center of commerce, but Pittsburg's sheer industrial might ensures that it will hold considerable economic sway for a mighty long time. Pittsburg also benefits from a high degree of philanthropy, led by Andrew Carnegie, who founded the library and the Carnegie Technical Schools and has created a number of foundations from his considerable wealth. The downside to all this is that Pittsburg is smoky and crowded with tons of eastern European immigrants, but Atlanta has its own problems with race riots and other forms of bigotry.

-----

Well, that was Pittsburg, PA, at the last time such a place existed. It's been Pittsburgh officially since 1911.

Other than adding back in the ending H, you'd probably get better input if you explained more what you are looking for in a city: what sort of shopping you like, what you consider to be a good downtown (remembering that both cities have downtown-like areas outside of their actual downtowns), and what sort of "vibe" appeals to you.
