I am going to look like one of the crazy people at the store since I am out of TP...

I swear the grocery store panic is created by the French Toast lobby because everyone can live for a few days without milk, bread, and eggs but that is what everyone seems to buy...is that a Pittsburgh tradition? French toast during snowstorms?

I'm by no means any sort of prepper, but I just wonder at the people who make the panicked grocery store runs. Like, they really don't have enough food or TP in the house to be snowed in for 12 hours (or a day, tops?) which is on the high side of how long you'd really be inconvenienced.

Agreed. I mean if it came down to it, who doesn’t have can of vegetables they could live on for a few days if need be. I however am out of TP, for no reason other than I am an idiot....

March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. And Beaver gets 8". Pittsburgh should be on National Geographic.

While you're at the store...
  • Ice Scraper
  • Kitty Litter (for traction when (not if) you get stuck)
  • Big box of Snickers (to eat while you're stuck)

If we get 10+ inches of snow, the only thing moving will be 4WD pickup trucks.

If we got ten inches of snow every time the news said it was possible to get ten inches of snow, we'd be walking out of our houses by the second story windows at some point every winter.

Then we could slide down the snow bank from our second floor window like that one scene in The Shining which would be cool as hell.

I never understood why anyone would rush out for eggs or milk before a storm. My biggest concern is losing power, and milk and eggs do me no good in that situation. I could live for a few days on the loaf of bread and jar of peanut butter I have now. And a box of cereal. And some canned fruit. No electricity needed. Do people really not have enough of these items already in their cabinets to survive 24 hours or so?

Well, we just got back from vacation and there is nothing in the house.

The good news is we finally found some sno-melt this morning!

I've never understood the need for milk, bread, and eggs to sustain life if you happen to be snowed in for a day. Now, the rush to get to the liquor store is another story..
